There’s an interesting dichotomy in Come to Calvary's Holy Mountain. This Lenten hymn invites us to come to the location where Jesus was brutally executed. It’s inviting the mean, the defiled, the unclean, the troubled, and the wounded. And in those negative human traits it’s talking about all of us. But then there’s the upbeat arrangement and the positive lyrics which remind us that this is where Christ bought our salvation. That only through Christ are we forgiven for our sins. Through Christ we can find comfort when we are broken. That this covenant was made through Christ’s sacrifice and will never be broken.
