Written around 1524 by Martin Luther, this hymn reminds us of the woes and torment we would be susceptible to without God's protection. The first two stanzas point to the worldly distractions and hardships we face that would surely overpower us without God. The third stanza, while still stating the challenges we face, serves as a prayer of thanks to God and a reminder that our strength comes through Him. This hymn is a great reminder that as Christians, we must daily look to God for strength; thanking Him and praising Him.
